Loma Alta Park Reopens with Support from FireAid and Community Partners

On Saturday, May 17, the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation (LA County Parks), with the support of philanthropic and community partners, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, and multiple Los Angeles County Departments proudly celebrated the grand reopening of Loma Alta Park in Altadena. Severely damaged during the devastating Eaton Fire in January, the park has undergone a remarkable transformation.

Central to this revitalization effort is FireAid, whose generous grant of $2.4 million played a pivotal role in the reconstruction of the park’s two fire-damaged playgrounds. This funding was part of FireAid’s ‘Symbols of Hope’ initiative—designed to bring healing and renewal to communities recovering from fire disasters.

Thanks to FireAid’s investment, the new playgrounds, created by Landscape Structures, now include a striking 3-story ADA-accessible play structure, offering inclusive and engaging spaces for children of all abilities. These playgrounds serve not only as recreational spaces but also as powerful symbols of resilience and recovery for families affected by the fire and the broader Altadena community.

Loma Alta Park, now considered a “super park,” features upgraded amenities, enhanced green space, and expanded community programming—reflecting the strength and spirit of the local residents who call it home.
